Lauren Ris Steps In as Acting Director of the CWCB

June 22, 2023 (Denver, CO) - Lauren Ris, Deputy Director of the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), will serve as the Acting Director for the agency beginning July 5, 2023. The leadership announcement comes as CWCB’s Director Becky Mitchell accepts her new full-time role as the State of Colorado's Commissioner to the Upper Colorado River Commission.

Ris currently works on a variety of issues and policies including Colorado’s Water Plan implementation, state and federal legislative activities that impact the agency, and water projects and statewide negotiations. Prior to her time at the CWCB, she was the Assistant Director for Water for the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, and also served as a Legislative Liaison for the Department where she oversaw legislative affairs for Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Division of Forestry. Prior to working for the State of Colorado, Lauren has experience in the federal and non-profit sectors.

CWCB will begin the search for a Director for the agency.
