Greg Felt lives in Salida, where he has been guiding or outfitting fly-fishing trips on the Arkansas River since 1985. His initial entry into the world of water management was in support of recreation, fisheries and the environment. However, it quickly became clear that non-consumptive beneficial uses of water are rarely achieved in isolation. Rather, success is usually the product of a solid understanding of water law and management objectives coupled with an emphasis on relationships and collaboration. Toward that end, Greg has served 14 years as a director of the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District, 3 years as a director of the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District, and was appointed by Governor Polis in 2020 as the Arkansas River Basin representative to the Colorado Water Conservation Board. He lives in Salida with his wife, Susan, and serves as Chairman of the Chaffee County Board of Commissioners.
